Modelo 3D Spindown Dice Holder por leerm8680 no Printables

Descrição

A large spindown die to hold your smaller dice. Uses 8mm dia magnets (3mm thick) that are glued in place for the hinge / locking mechanism.

The “CTG” lid has the logo of my local gamming store.

To assemble:

Items needed:
Magnets, 8mm, 3mm thick, Neodymium. I buy these in a 10-pack at Home Depot or magnetsource.com

Superglue, gel-type. I use Loctite brand Ultragel Control.

Cling wrap.

Large rubber band (optional)

Pre-assembly: Give the parts a light sanding with 400-grit sandpaper on the surfaces where the lid and body will meet.

Step 1: Place a drop of gel-type superglue in each of the holes on the bottom side of the lid.

Step 2: Place a magnet in the shallow hole (near the 19 and logo side of the dice) and press to seat magnet into the hole. The magnet should extend from the hole approximatly 1.5mm. A piece of cling wrap placed over the magnet before pressing will keep your hands clean. Remove and discard the cling wrap piece

Step 3: Place a magnet in the deeper hole (near the 17 and 18 side of the dice) and press to seat magnet into the hole. The magnet should be flush with the surface of the hole. A piece of cling wrap placed over the magnet before pressing will keep your hands clean. Remove and discard the cling wrap piece when complete.

Step 4: Wait for the superglue to set. Have a snack, walk the dog, watch another episode of the show you have been binge-watching.

Step 5: Take a piece of cling wrap approximatly the size of a sheet of typing paper and place it over the (magnet side up) lid, centering it on the lid. Pull the excess around to the non-magnet side and twist to pull most of the excess together and remove excessive wrinkles on the magnet side. a little slack is good.

Step 6: Place one magnet on each of the magnets that were glued onto the lid. The magnet will flip automatically to match the polairty. double check that the cling wrap is sandwiched between each pair of magnets.

Step 7: Place a drop of superglue in each of the holes on the spindown body.

Step 8: Align the magnets on the lid with the holes on the body and press the lid down until the surfaces are together. The cling wrap shoud be between the lid and body surfaces.

Step 9: Double check the alignment of the lid to the body. There is a fraction of a millimeter of play to move the lid around to get the best centering on the body. The time you have to do this depends on how fast the superglue you are using needs to set.

Step 10: (optional) use the large rubber band to secure the lid to the body while the superglue fully sets.

At this point, I normaly take the 1-2-3-4-5 part of the die and place that point into a plastic cup so the 16-17-18-19-20 point on lid is facing up. Let it sit like this unitll the superglue is fully set.

To open the die, hold it with the 16-17-18-19-20 side up and press on the 16-20 edge or the 18-19 edge to move the lid clockwise or counter-clockwise.
