Sometimes I like to try out an idea in 3D printing even though I think it may not be the best choice for a particular application, because it helps me to test the limits of what is possible. With that in mind, I can say that these key-cap pullers work, although they are likely not very durable (at least in PLA).

If you need a keycap puller and you're in a hurry to get one, this may be a workable choice for you.

Included here are two versions : "long leg" and "short leg". I found the long leg works best; the short leg version is a bit too thick to fit between the keys.

Print instructions

I printed these in PLA, although that is not the best choice as PLA is a bit too brittle for this (although it does work). Better choices would be PETG, ABS, or nylon.

Use the provided 3mf file; otherwise:

• perimeters = 6
• detect thin walls

I think the "long legs" puller (puller02) works best, although it is also the most easily broken. This version is designed to print with built in support material that needs to be removed after printing. Remove all of the thin tabs between the legs except the two nearest the pull loop (see photos). This is easily does with a really sharp (be careful!) razor knife - just make sure you don't cut through the legs or break them (they are strong enough in tension, but easily broken if bent).
