Arduino Pro Mini Case

Introduction

Introducing an all purpose electronic container for the Arduino Pro Mini microcontroller. I was inspired to design this after printing a unicorn night light uploaded by Jeditiger05. My objective was to use this design to mount to the back of the unicorn night light in order to power the LEDs, control LED lighting schemes and set the brightness. It was a fun project and I wanted to share it with everyone. Enjoy and share your use cases!

*Note: You will be doing a fair bit of soldering to get everything wired up. Hopefully that's something you enjoy doing or want to learn. With all the wiring in place it's all a tight fit so careful consideration of space and wiring paths is needed.

Design Considerations

The top of the container is design to twist on and off the base. It is a very snug fit so the case will not untwist without considerable effort. This is to keep the electronic components secure will allowing for easy access if parts need to be replaced or a rewiring is needed.

The base of the container has a place to pop the microcontroller into with a very tight tolerance. You can pop the microcontroller back out by pushing through the slits on the bottom of the base with a pencil or small screwdrivers. There are six mounting holes that will accept M2.5 screws to mount the container to any flat surface. You can also use some of the holes or the slits under the board to bring wiring into the container as desired.

After building this I modified the design slightly to provide more space for internal wiring. It shouldn't affect the design mechanics but if you have problems let me know as I haven't had time to print the new version.

Use Case

The only change I made to the Unicorn Night Light was scaling it to 150% using Prusa Slicer.
