Sanding block with simple construction. Made to work with a 38mm x 230mm - 240mm sandpaper stripe.

After trying out a few sanding blocks, not finding anything fitting my needs. Either they were over-complicated, screws were fiddly, the tolerances were off, or they just broke to easy.

I wanted a simple sanding block that could clamp the sanding paper in place when sanding and not break so easily.

So I made my own with a beefy bolt, M22 (3mm pitch) threads with adjusted tolerance for 3D printing. This large bolt is easy to adjust and pretty durable.

There is so much friction in sanding paper so a simple clamping construction is enough to hold it in place.

I use this block to sand 3D prints in PET-G with wet sandpaper.

Print instructions

.gcode has a layer height of 0.25 with 4 perimeters for strength. The infill is set to 15% with a rectilinear pattern.

A complete sanding block consists of:

• 1x base.stl
• 1x clamp.stl
• 1x bolt.stl

Only did this in PET-G but should work very well (maybe even better) in PLA.
