Description
This is a set of work-holding jigs for use in a bench vise. They precisely measure and hold the metal stock required to build Steve's excellent Pendulum Clock so you can cut them with a hacksaw and perform filing operations.
Print Settings
NOTE: THIS DESIGN IS IN IMPERIAL, NOT METRIC. Choose “load as imperial” in your slicer software. The assembly in the pictures was printed at the following settings:
- Printer: Prusa i3 MK3S+
- Print Settings
- 0.4mm nozzle
- 0.15mm layer height (variable layer height)
- 3 shells sides
- 5 shells bottom and 8 shells top
- 50% gyroid infill
- Filament: PETG for the 1/8" tubing jig; PLA for the remainder
- Supports: none
- Brim: none
Print Instructions
- These jigs LOVE to warp. They absolutely love it. I've included little feet in the design to help anchor them to your print bed, but make sure your adhesion is pretty good before you start out.
- PLA was fine for all jigs except the 1/8" tubing one. It started to deform under the heat & pressure of the hacksaw, so I printed that one in PETG and had no further issues.
Assembly Instructions
- You can use a pair of pliers to snap the adhesion feet off each jig after printing.
- Position the jig in a bench vise, insert the metal stock, make your cuts and do your filing.
