Description

Windmill (Windrad, Windspiel) for outdoor use - works for low and high wind speeds

Uses separate bearing assembly and windmill body simply put on each other with a 10° cone. This allows for simple and effective wheater sealing of the bearing assembly. Mine is working perfectly for more than 2 years now (March 2025), It's seen sun, rain, snow, and -10°C and took no harm from it.

What you need additionally to the printed parts:

2x Skatebard Bearings oD 22mm, iD 8mm, width 7mm. For lower friction take the inner seal rings off. Pressfit Diameter in STL is set to 22.2mm and always worked fine for me

3x Rods oD 8mm (I've used carbon rods), lenth 8-10cm for the wings

1x Rod oD 8mm for the stand, your prefered length depending on setup mode

6x M5 screws (in the green exaple I used the M5x5 without head) or glue to make the pressfit of the rods a bit more permanent.

You might want to use arc welder with older printers, as the models are nearly just consisting of circles, your Gcode will be 6x smaller and printer should not stutter. Without Arcwelder my 3DGence One was struggling.

Do print line width 0.6-0.7mm, and layer thickness 0.3mm for similar results as me. Like this the main parts take below 1.5 hours each.
