Very simple to print and build Christmas tree lamp. Just two parts to print and you can play with colors to find something you like. In addition to printed parts you will need:
- LED strip - try to find the cheapest strip possible, it doesn't have to be waterproof. I would suggest a warm white color but you can even go with RGB if you feel like it.
- DC jack or another type of DC jack - use whatever you have, keep in mind you might need to modify the hole in the back for the jack that you have. Even though the hole is round I used the second type.
- 12V power supply - this will power the LED strip. 1A should be enough but you can buy some more powerful supply because it might be useful in other projects. Some LED strips that are too powerful might overheat so you can consider to buy a 9V power supply in some cases.
To fix the strip in a tree I used the tape from the strip and added some hot glue just to make it stronger as usually the tape is of a poor quality. You can also use hotglue to fix the jack in place more firmly. Turn it on and check if the strip is not overheating (if it does a bit after few minutes you will have to replace the power supply for 9V one) it might start melting the hot glue.
You can also glue in place the front white part but you can also just leave it as it is with just a friction fit for easier maintenance in case you need to fix something.
At the end you just have to enjoy Christmas with your new Christmas tree :)
