Descrição
This mold can be used to cast an owl out of (bees)wax.
Material required:
- This printed mold
- Something to clamp the mold together
- Pot the heat the water
- Container to melt the wax in
- Something to measure the wax temperature
- 200g of wax
- About 10cm wick
- Thread to secure the wick
Steps:
- Print the mold
- Put the wick in the mold and secure it on the lower side of the mold (e.g. with a thread)
- Clamp the mold together
- Slowly heat the wax in a bain-marie until its fully melted
- Make sure the wax is around 65°C
- Cast the wax into the mold
- As soon as the wax gets a bit colder, try to remove the thread used to secure the wax (or simply cut it).
- During the cooling process, the wax will contract somewhat. Refill the bottom of the owl with some more wax.
- Let the wax cool down for some hours (6-8 should be enough)
- Put the mold in the fridge (not the freezer) and let it cool down for some more hours (I left it over night)
- Carefully remove the mold, first the outer parts and then the middle ones.
- Remove the excess wax on the bottom of the owl candle.
- Enjoy your candle
The mold can be reused.
