Descrição
A small bird house to hang on e.g. your balcony that keeps the food dry.
Consists of two parts that can be screwed together easily.
The diameter is 20cm, so it can't be printed on a mini - sorry.
The height between the landing platform and the roof is 10cm. Total height is about 14.7cm.
Print instructions
| Printed with: | PETG |
|---|---|
| Layer Height: | 0.2mm - 0.3mm* |
| Brim: | No |
| Support: | No |
| Infill: | 10-20% |
| Nozzle: | 0.40mm |
| Perimeters: | 2** |
| * | You can print it with 0.3mm, but the threads should be at 0.2mm, otherwise you will have overhangs and that's probably not a good idea to have on them. As for the top part, I'd stick to 0.2mm to make it look nicer. |
| ** | I suggest printing the top part of the roof, where you hang the bird house, with 4 perimeters, to give it extra strength. You might consider using 3 perimeters on the “landing platform” to make it more solid, but I don't think there are small birds that are that fat that it makes a difference. :o) |
Slicing instructions
Bottom
Slice at 0.2mm. If you slice at 0.3mm, add a height modifier for the top part where the thread is, to print that at 0.2mm. Also keep an eye on any overhangs on the bottom part of the tube - there is a small overhang at 0.2mm already, which is okay, but it might get worse on 0.3mm.
For the central part inside the tube, a “Support Cubic” infill is sufficient, consider using “Gyroid” or “Grid" as default for the rest of the model, but you probably get away with Support Cubic here as well.
You can, but don't need to, add a modifier to the landing platform to add extra perimeters, to make it even more rigid. But that's fully optional.
Top
Slice at 0.2mm.
Add a height modifier at Range 32.00-60.00 and add a “Layers and Perimeters” modifier to it, setting the Perimeters to 4, to give it extra strength.
As for the infill, go for a 10% "Support cubic" to save on print time and filament. Works well.
General
I usually use Arc Welder on models that are round, but I couldn't upload the welded files here.
That's completely optional, but might look nicer in the end. Not that the birds do care… :o)
On my print I've used “Variable layer height” to make the rounded surfaces on the lower part look a bit nicer. You rarely can see the print artefacts due to the changes in layer height, so it's an option.
Happy printing and I'm looking forward for your comments and/or prints :)
