Descrição
This is my first gridfinity design and also my first ever completely original 3D design (except the gridfinity shape of course).
It is clearly inspired by Alexandre Chappel's drill bit tray, but adjusted for gridfinity. He base of the drill bit has a recessed area that allows you to press and the tip of the drill bit will lift for easy grabbing.
It's sort of generic but it can hold my metal drill bits number 2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8mm and also my wood drill bits 3,4,5,6,7,8, and 10mm.
I uploaded a numbered and not-numbered version, as I suspect it can also hold similar-sized imperial drill bits as the holes have some slack, both in width and length.
I made it very shallow so in the usual 6 units tall gridifinity boxes you can fit three of these (metal, wood and masonry), or in my personal arrangement (9 units tall) you can fit these three and the empty tray below with spare drill bits or other drilling accessories.
I uploaded the original fusion 360 file so if you prefer a taller, longer or wider box it's easy for you to customize them, or your drill bits have different sizes.
I recommend at least a 10% infill to not get defects in the base of the drill containers (as show in some of my photos with 5% infill)
V2 Update:
The length of the hole for the longest drill bit was increased ever so slightly to the maximum that can fit on a 3x2 gridfinity tray (~120mm). Also the model has been parametrized so you can download the fusion 360 file and use the user parameters to define the exact length for all your drill bits or change the numbers.
Also the recess at the base of the drill bits was increased a little bit so it's easier to lift the tip of the bits by pressing them.
