Modelo 3D Stackable Gear Tooth Drink Coasters with Logo Insert por Mobious no Printables

Descrição

My fellow makers & printers, I present to you the pinnacle of drink coaster design!

Unique Gear Tooth Design

  • Allows the coasters to interlock when stacked together, removing the need for special caddies or holders!
    • Can stack together as many as you are willing to print, the sky is the limit!
  • Beveled top faces help guide drinks toward the center of the coaster, auto-aim for drink placement!
  • Looks cool, sturdy, and industrial, way more interesting than a flat disc!

Ø76mm Drink Zone

  • Sized to fit most standard drink vessels:
    • All cans, including 500mL
    • Glass bottles up to 22oz / 650mL (bomber) size
    • Glassware such as pints, tumblers, and most stemware less than 21oz / 600mL
  • Perimeter wall traps and contains all condensation, up to 0.5oz / 15mL of water without spilling during my rigorous lab testing!**
    • **Maximum water capacity tested with empty coaster, actual storage capacity may vary depending on drink size and shape

Personal Flair and Easy Printing

  • Want a plain coaster with just a single color?  Go with the Solid Center model for a simple one-piece print!
  • Want to make it your own?  Choose the Logo-Ready model and print your own custom logo insert!  Or you can print one of the super cool logo samples I uploaded!
    • Two-piece design splits up print time and allows for different levels of detail between the base and the logo
    • More forgiving for those experimenting with color changes, as mistakes only cost you a small disc of material rather than an entire coaster
    •
  • Feeling extra fancy?  Print the first 0.4mm of the base using TPU for extra grip on all surfaces!
    • I've made several coasters this way using NinjaFlex TPU and Prusament PETG, adds a noticeable amount of grip and has proven very durable after 2 years of regular use, no peeling or tearing of the TPU
    • It also helps prevent scratches on your hardwood finishes!
  • Bases are available in 8-tooth or 4-tooth designs, with more designs coming soon!

Print Settings

  • Material: PLA, PETG, or other
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Infill: 15%, Rectilinear
  • Perimeters: 2
  • Bottom Fill Pattern: any
  • Top Fill Pattern: any
  • Supports:
    • 8-Tooth Base can go without supports, but if your bridging quality is so-so I would add them under the gear tooth overhangs just to be safe
    • 4-Tooth Base can also go without supports, but only if your bridging quality is really good, otherwise add supports under the gear tooth overhangs

Other Notes

  • Design parameters to make a logo that's compatible with the Logo-Ready bases:
    • Ideally a circle with a diameter no greater than 76mm
    • At least 1.6mm thick to match the deck height of the base
    • The Logo-Ready bases come with four locating pins, each 2mm in diameter and 0.2mm tall placed about a 32mm radius from the center of the base
      • These pins are simply alignment aids, and can be removed via the slicer if needed
  • Logo insert can be printed as a friction-fit, but ideally a small amount of adhesive should be used
    • To prevent condensation from collecting under the logo and causing potential grossness, I highly suggest sealing the gap around the outer perimeter of the logo with your adhesive of choice; ideally something waterproof and a little more viscous/thicker than CA glue
  • To print any of the sample logos I uploaded, do the following:
    • Set up your print to include as many colors or extrudes as their are files for the logo you're planning to print
    • Import the STL with “Section 1” in the file name first, then add the other sections to that imported object
      • This will ensure the top layers are sitting at the correct height within the model
      • If you import all the sections at once, the upper sections will be sitting on the build plate rather than elevated where they need to be
  • For the Black Templar Logo, I suggest setting the Top Fill Pattern to Concentric as it gives a nice 3D effect to the cross
  • This was one of my passion projects during the early days of Covid-19 quarantine.  I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it :D
