I modified the original Otto design, using Autodesk Fusion360, to resemble a 'Gonk-Droid' from star wars, in order to celebrate the 'Rise of Skywalker'.

A bit about myself...

I am in my final year of university studying History, but I have a passion for learning new technologies and designing stuff. I'm trying to build a portfolio of work so that I can complete a masters degree in Product/Industrial Design, so I thought a competition like this would be a lot of fun!

For those who are unfamiliar with the classic Star Wars 'Gonk' Droid... They are little power generators on legs, programmed to understand simple commands and appear more on planets with poorly developed electricity grids, or accompany military expeditions.

CAD, 3D Design

Autodesk Fusion360 was used to alter the head and body of the original Otto design. The feet and legs are standard Otto design.

To alter the shape of the head, I extruded the original shape to elongate it, and then added drafted two sides to give the appropriate shape. I then made a number of extruded cuts to define the shape more, and then used the 'offset' tool to create new shapes for the unique paneling of the droid - this same method was used in creating the button panel on the front.

The only modification to the body was adding drafted edges in the same way to the first, but also to create a rectangular band that stretched around the entire model at the top for some minor detailing.
