This creates a set of nested quilting templates with standard 1/4" cutting margins based on a basic hex tile of a dimension you specify. The templates have a fillet edge (specifiable) to make it harder for cutting blades to destroy the template.

There are STLs are for a 4" hex tile. There are 11 tiles in all, as tiles of the base hex.

There is a Rhino3D file and accompanying Grasshopper program to generate the tiles in any size you want. STL's are exported to a folder of your choice. Instructions in the Grasshopper file.

You can specify the knob profile and adjust its dimensions parametricaly.

How I Designed This

If you are a Rhino user - particularly an early user - you may find the Grasshopper programme very instructive. There are lots of interesting bits including:

• extensive use of clusters to simplify and control the quality of code
• control of edge selection to manage filleting
• add-in components used to control baking and to automate the naming and export of objects as STL files...
