The inserts have an open bottom that can be placed into a setting gel, so that a gel-filled plug ends up on the end. Worms dig through the gel and land in the plate below, providing a way to filter out parasites from their environment for collection and analysis.

Note: the walls of this are very thin; care must be taken when printing on a FDM printer. Would work better with an STL or PolyJet printer.
