How I Designed This ===================

Blender! (Original, not a remix.)

I drew lines for the shell cuts from above, turned them into a mesh, used the thicken modifier, and then I wrapped them to the shell-shape I had made. Honestly, the shell is what sells it as a sea turtle. (I might come back someday and make its head more interesting to look at.)
