Modelo 3D Triptych Battle Tops - A hotswappable battle top system por PolyFrog no Printables

Descrição

Triptych Battle tops are a collection of Tops, Blades and Tips that let you build and customise your own battle tops!

Swap out different blades and tips to customize spin stability weight and contact points to build your ultimate battle top.  Each top is made up of 3 pieces;

Tops - Mostly cosmetic housing for the locking mechanism that holds the tips and blades in place

  • A V2 version of the tops are available to download also. these just have rounded edged on the top of the gear to reduce some jamming i found in testing

Blades - 5mm disks that can be stacked onto the pin to knock your opponents top off balance. Blades can be stacked as just 1 blade, 2 blades or 3 blades.

Tips - There are 9 Different Tip types all favouring different types levels of stability. Tips are the best way to control how aggressive/stable your top is in battle

  • These do need to be printed with supports. Default support settings will work fine, the flat surface makes for easy removal.

Launchers - Load your assembled tops into these feed the ripcord through and send your tops off spinning.

  • I'd recommend you do not print these in PLA, the friction from the constant spinning melts the inside of the launcher and causes the top to jam

Assembly

To assemble a top just stack your blades into the tip then place the top on. Push on the top and to bottom of the top gently and twist clockwise, the top should twist and softly lock into place.

struggling to get the top to lock?

  • Make sure there isn't any support material left on the underside of the tip as this can push the blades up just enough that they wont clear the tolerance for the locking mechanism

  • My tolerances may just be too tight, leave a comment and I'll release a version with a looser tolerance

Customizing your own parts.

In the Custom parts folder there are STL and STEP files for the core components of the tops blades and tips, all cut down to 27mm diameter inserts. Just drop these into your own designs and perform a boolean operation or just import them into the slicer to combine them with your own designs.

Triptych tops have been designed to fit within the OpenSauce Spec

A couple extra notes

When testing i Noticed my tops kept jamming in the launcher, I think is is caused mostly because the parts are printed in PLA. However i noticed that the part of the tops that's actually catching is a small burr that's forming along the top edge of the gear.

Just running my thumb nail along this burr to break it off fixes the jamming issue for me. for a more long term solution i have included a V2 version of the tops with a filler to the top edge of the gear to hopefully stop these burrs from forming.
