Overhang / Bridge Support Test
This test piece is designed to help evaluate overhang performance, bridging quality, cooling efficiency, and support settings.
The model should be printed with the hollow side facing down. This orientation forces the printer to create unsupported overhangs and bridges, making it easier to identify issues related to cooling, print speed, extrusion, or support configuration.
An oval opening is included near the top of the model to test how well your printer handles overhangs around holes and curved geometry. These features often reveal problems that may not appear in simple straight bridge tests.
Use this model to compare:
Overhang quality
Bridge performance
Cooling effectiveness
Support interface settings
Different filaments
Speed and acceleration changes
A quick and practical calibration print for dialing in FDM printer settings and comparing results between materials, slicer profiles, and machines.
If you find a useful way to compare results between different printers or materials, feel free to share your settings and photos in the comments. It might help others dial in their printers as well.
