Summary

This 18cm x 18cm octagon is a fidget that you can shake up and down. This project was made with my partner @ArnavWN875.

Problem Statement 

With your partner, you will create an octagon fidget that cascades as you play with it by doing the process of outlining the shape with extruding and cutting. We will also be using offset entities and drafts.          

Assembly and Construction

When we were planning to create the fidget, we decided on an octagon silhouette since it was simple, and the previous silhouette images were too difficult to make.

After finishing the outline, we repeatedly used offset entities inward on the image, with distances alternating between 0.24 cm and 0.08 cm. The 0.24 cm gap is going to be between the layers.

After using offset entities, we boss extruded and cut the sketch repeatedly, and got a fully extruded shape.

We mirrored the extruded piece to make the shape fully closed.

Design Changes 

I had to use offset entities to add an extra line since there was only one line(red arrow). Because of this problem, I wasn’t able to progress. I had to change my partner’s file with mine since we have the same shape, because I couldn’t add a smart dimension of 0.24 cm to the line and only make it 0.16 cm, which messed up the boss extrude. 

We couldn’t continue extruding and cutting, so we had to put a polygon with 8 sides on sketch 2 to continue extruding and cutting.
