Print the front in the following way. Depending on your layer height. My printer is set up for 0.2mm layers. 

Print the first 5 layers with black filament (1mm) the next 3 with white filament (0.5mm) and the rest with black filament. Either pause your printer, or I fool mine with a switch on the filament runout sensor.

The rear cover comfortably holds a Wemos D1 ESP8622 mini that I loaded with wled and selected the matrix effect (or an ESP32 micro).

There is two versions - one that is a 2 X 8 X 8 module, or a single 16 X 16 module. 

There is also two versions of the back for the 2 X 8 X 8 module - for a D1 and one for an ESP32 micro. 

If you would like to make a supersized version using LED strip, simply resize it - a standard 60 led per metre strip has a 16mm LED pitch, versus a 10mm led pitch (so 160%) - though for a 16X16 you will need a large printer bed.
