This is intended to be used as a component in a larger project.

The FreeCAD file generates matching inner & outer threaded solids.

With 2 or 3 pad / extrude operations you can create a simple jar from this.

The current clearance values should work well for PLA, but PETG and other are untested. Please leave a comment if you have tried other filaments, and what values (if any) you changed!

Instructions

• Open the file in FreeCAD

• Click the VarSet object in the left hierarchy, and change the values. Click away, eg in the middle of the screen, to stop editing, and the model will recompute.

  • Only the inner diameter is directly configurable, and the diameter of the outer part is derived from various VarSet values (colored font indicates computed values that can't be manually edited)

  • Small thread sizes may not work, decreasing from the default value is untested.

• Inspect the model carefully

  • A red x icon on one of the operations means something broke

  • You can click edges / surfaces and see basic measurements in the bottom right toolbar, or use the measurement tool (calipers icon) for more control.

• Continue building directly in FreeCAD, or export to your favorite program. To export, click each root object in the left hierarchy, and use Ctrl+E to export (STEP format is recommended)

Hopefully it won't break when you edit the variables, but that's a possibility in CAD. I've played around a bit and it seems stable. If something fails after you change values, report it here and I'll fix it for you. You could also try closing & re-opening the file, and increasing / decreasing the values in multiple smaller steps, as a workaround.
