Descrição
These brackets create a floating outer frame around an already stretched canvas. They are decorative and alignment pieces, not structural supports for the canvas itself. The intention is to help you build minimal frames for canvas artwork without any complicated woodworking.
Instead of cutting precise 45° miters or doing joinery, you can simply:
Buy a length of wood strip / slat
Cut four straight pieces to the length of the canvas sides
Insert them into the printed corner brackets
Assemble the frame around the canvas
The brackets hold the frame square and aligned while also creating a small offset between the canvas and the wood frame, producing a subtle shadow gap / floating frame effect.
The decorative front edge can also be styled to resemble a dovetail joint, adding a bit of visual character to an otherwise simple frame.
This makes it easy to produce attractive frames even with minimal tools - a simple saw and a 3D printer are enough.
Customization
The included CAD file allows you to easily adjust:
Canvas depth
Frame spacing (shadow gap)
Wood strip dimensions
Decorative corner shape
This means the bracket can be adapted to any canvas thickness and almost any wood profile.
Typical Use Case
Perfect for:
framing stretched canvas paintings
creating floating gallery-style frames
quick DIY framing without woodworking tools
Printing
Paint on support around the slots for the screw holes (see the slicer screenshot). No other supports necessary.
No special requirements. PLA works well for most cases.
