This minimalistic filament spool stand serves two purposes - the obvious one, to secure the filament spool on the shelf or inside a drawer, preventing movement when opening and closing the drawer. And also it acts as a sample print for each filament, letting you see exactly how the filament looks once printed. In this way, the stand is practical in two distinct ways!

Actually, there’s a third benefit - matching the colors of the spools with their stands also motivates you to stay organized as each spool has its own place. You don't have to suffer from OCD to keep everything tidy!

The stand is designed for spools with a 20cm diameter, which is the most commonly used size. I added various widths of the stand to accommodate various spool weights from 250g to 2kg - starting from 4cm width all the way to 12cm width in 0.5cm increments.

For a 1kg spool, the most common width is between 6.5cm and 7cm, so the 7cm stand will fit most needs. Plus, it requires only 20g of filament to print!

If you prefer a bit more space between the spools for easier handling, go for a stand that is slightly wider than the spool itself. 

You can join multiple stands together using side pins to create a single, wider stand. I decided to use a simple square shape for the pin so that it is easy to print. The square pin comes in a separate STL file. Print the pin using a filament that does not shrink too much, so that it does not fall out, or use a bit of glue. Since the pin is hidden from view, any material or color will work.

For those who don't care about colors I included two larger stands to hold multiple spools - 25cm and 30cm wide (maximum size of most print beds). I have not printed these larger stands yet, so let me know in case they need additional support in the middle.
