A crude ear one might find on a wandering wood elf. The barbarian that felled it may adorn the ear as jewelry to show their success as a hunter. More successful warriors even use the ears to decorate dolls for there children. This has given rise to a tradition that having them out on shelving will earn the kids gifts from a seasonal winter deity.
