Simple functional print that protects your wall from the door handle and keeps the door from swinging shut.

I designed the backplate specifically to fit 4x Medium 3M Command Strips (1.3kg version). This gives a very strong hold without drilling holes in the plaster.

How it works:

• Passive Locking: If you mount it about 1 mm above the door handle, you don't need to press the handle to lock it. Just push the door open, and the handle will slide under the arm and snap into place.

• Protection: Stops the handle before it hits the wall.

Installation:

1. Clean the print: Wipe the back of the printed part with IPA to ensure the strips stick perfectly.

2. Apply strips: Stick 4 Command Strips to the print as shown in the photos. Important: Make sure the pull-tabs are pointing down so you can remove them later if you need to.

3. Clean the wall: Wipe the wall spot with a dry microfiber cloth to remove any dust.

4. Peel & Align: Remove the backing tape from the wall side of the strips. Align the model so the long arm is approx. 1 mm above the door handle.

5. Mount: Press firmly against the wall.

6. Wait: Let the adhesive set for a few hours before using the door stop.

Print Settings

Orientation: Print this on its side (standing on the edge). This aligns the layer lines with the arm for maximum strength.

Settings: The settings below are my "overkill" recommendation for a part that will last for years without issues. However, if you don't want to tweak everything, a standard "Strong" / "Structural" profile with supports enabled should also work fine.

• Material: PETG recommended (flexibility prevents snapping). PLA might crack over time.

• Perimeters: 5 walls (Overkill for durability). 3-4 is likely enough.

• Supports: Tree supports required (due to side orientation).

• Infill:

  • My setup: 15% Honeycomb with "Fill Multiline" set to 2.

  • Alternative: 25% Honeycomb works too.

• Brim:

  • Calibrated printer: No brim needed.

  • Adhesion issues: Use "Outer brim only".
