Descrição
Introduction
This design consists of a collection of ribbed vases.
The vases are created with a script in OpenSCAD. The source script for OpenSCAD is provided as well, to make your own custom designs.
Printing
The 3mf file format is preferred, but the stl files are also added. They are in the "stl" folder.
The “Ribbed Vase Medium Size” has a height of 18 cm (7 inches) and it weighs about 200 gram.
I used White PCTG filament for the vases in the photo. The layer adhesion and the whole vase is stronger, it is even water-tight. However, the Z Seam is visible on the inside and there are brown and black burned dots and there is some stringing.
The vases were printed with a 0.4 mm nozzle, a layer height of 0.15 mm, 4 walls (perimeters), 100% infill, nearest seam position, and a fuzzy skin on the outside walls of 0.12 mm thickness and 0.6 mm point distance.
OpenSCAD
OpenSCAD is free software: [https://openscad.org/](https://openscad.org/)
The script for the vase, together with the used library, are in the zip file.
Be sure to unzip/unpack the zip file before using it.
I used a 2025 version of OpenSCAD. Older versions of OpenSCAD might be too slow for this script.
The design can be used with the "Customizer" of OpenSCAD. No knowledge of the code is required to use the "Customizer".
Open the script in OpenSCAD, enable the "Customizer" window, press F5 if the settings of the Customizer are grayed out. Adjust the sliders to change the model. To export a 3mf or stl file, render it first with F6.
When changing the settings, check the inside at the top. Some combinations of settings result in a bad vase. Adjusting the rounding and the wall thickness might fix it, or else the diameter has to be increased.
The design can be further customized by adjusting the script. For example a new vertical profile could be added.
The script shows a cross section and a profile during the preview.
