This is a base that wraps around a 4x6 post. It can be installable after the post is in place. The file includes one long side, one short side, and 5 pins (you only need 4 for each half, but I printed 5 in case one doesn't come out well). You have to print two sets of this file to make a complete wrap. The design accommodates hiding a Simpson post base, and it also allows you to slide the base up the post to inspect the base (I wanted to be able to see the Simpson bracket and adjust it if needed, without having to remove the base). The main goal is to hide the base of the post and make it look more decorative.

It prints as shown with no supports. Once the parts are printed (two sets of the included file), you insert the printed pins into either of the sides, and then press them together. Because I used pins for alignment, you only need 4 screws to hold the 4 sides together. This was designed to use #8 pan head wood screws, 3/4" long. I recommend stainless steel, but that is up to you. I used PLA+ for filament because I understand that has better UV resistance.
