This RC hovercraft is a fully 3D-printed, modular vehicle designed for land and water traversal. It features two brushless DC motors—one providing vertical lift and the other driving forward thrust—along with a servo-controlled rudder for precise steering. The lift system channels air into a simple but effective skirt made from a household trash bag, allowing the craft to float on a cushion of air. All components are secured using M3 hardware and heat-set inserts, making the design robust, easily serviceable, and ideal for DIY experimentation.
You will need
- ~20x m3 heat set inserts
- ~20x m3 6-12mm screws
- 1x trashbag
- 2x 2213 or similar BLDC motors
- 2x 7040 propellers or similar (cut down to size)
- 1x 3-4s battery
- 1x RC controller/receiver pairing of your choice
- 1x 9g servo
The assembly is fairly self-explanatory, except for the skirt. For the skirt, cut a trash bag around 2.5 inches from the edge of the bottom rim, then fold up and poke holes for the screws to go through. Then, ensuring all edges of the skirt are between the bottom rim and main shell, screw the bottom rim to the main shell. Feel free to use tape as well if you're having trouble.
If there is significant interest, I will release a comprehensive build guide; however, I currently lack the time to do so.
