Descrição
Not everyone has the same set of tools - and toolsets can change over time. That's why I redesigned the original model as a modular system that lets you keep what you need and replace only the segments that have changed.
Printing the Frame
The frame is quite big, so it has to be precisely placed on the print plate. The plate needs to be 100% clean, especially on its edges where you usually grease it with your fingers, or the model will start peeling off. I added some “mouse ears” and “artificial brim” to improve the grip,
Guidelines for Designing Modules
- The frame has 10mm push-through holes to make module extraction easier.
- Outer walls of the modules should be designed with a -0.15mm tolerance per face, for a total clearance of 0.3mm. This should account for extrusion inconsistencies and common horizontal print artifacts.
- Each of the four vertical edges of should have a 1mm fillet to prevent forming of the bulges on the sharp angles,
- Add a 1mm chamfer on the bottom edges, for easier fitting.
- Do not chamfer the top edges.
- Modules should be inserted with firm pressure and fit snugly. If insertion is too tight or too loose, check your filament diameter and printer calibration.
1st Row
The first and longest row consists of 4 compartments:
- Each compartment is 68 mm wide and 17 mm deep.
- The front height is 30.7mm, the back height is 29mm tall, creating a 5.8° base slant.
Each compartment can hold one or more modules depending on your needs.
I have currently designed:
- Full-width modules (68 mm)
- Prusa pliers module
- Brass-wire brush + Filament Clippers
- 4x nozzle module
- Half-width modules (34 mm).
- Two Prusa wrenches
- 6-pieces Allen + Torx key-set
2nd Row
Originally intended for storing 3 print sheets, this row contains a single long compartment that you can optionally replace with a mid-flat base printed in FLEX, extending the storage for small parts and tools such as screwdrivers, accelerometer, burr removing knife etc.
Option A
- 3-print sheets holder
Option B
- Flat base printed in FLEX to prevent rattling of the tools. Print on the textured sheet face-down.
3rd Row
The third row is also a single compartment with a slanted base. It is recommended that you print a “Flat Base” that will provide a flat-based compartment for the tools. Print in FLEX face-down, on a textured plate.
