Descrição

Design Goals

Flexible
  • Use the TRMNL button while mounted!

  • Supports both magnets and command strips

  • Free parameterized Fusion360 model

Sturdy and Stable
  • Solid contact with both TRMNL and mounting surface

  • Locks into TRMNL hanging hole (optional)

  • Supports hook reinforcement (optional)

Elegant
  • Invisible from the front

  • Slim (~2mm offset from mounting surface)

  • Beveled edges reduce edge profile and assist in unmounting

  • Rounded, finger-friendly corners

  • Non-marring (magnets never touch mounting surface)

  • No adhesives needed, even for magnets

Print Settings

The PETG print in the photos used 0.2mm layers, 15% cubic infill, 2 perimeters, and manually painted supports under the hook.

Usage Tips

  • The broad, flat back surface supports both command strips and magnets. Since the magnets are inserted from the TRMNL side, there's a layer of plastic protecting the mounting surface from any scratches or damage from the magnets. I used a single 20x2mm neodymium magnet in each corner; you can stack multiple magnets or use thicker ones (e.g. 20x3mm) for more security.

  • When mounted, the button is just left of the TRMNL logo on the bezel; press there (inwards towards the mounting surface) to activate the button.

  • To optionally lock the TRMNL onto the hook, put the small printed lock insert or another small object into the slot in the back.

  • To optionally strengthen the hook and prevent layer separation, insert a 2.5mm flathead screw into the countersunk hole in the back. (Even if you don't do this, the perimeters around the hole itself help strengthen the hook.)

Caveats

The exact tolerances of the press-fit parts, such as magnets and the lock insert, will depend on your printer, your filament, etc. Customize the included Fusion360 model to fit your needs, or adjust sizing in your slicer to optimize the fit.

You can also insert another object into the lock slot. I actually ended up using a folded piece of paper towel!
