Modelo 3D Useless Booker's Box por Jeff Vier no Printables

Descrição

I wanted to make an analog useless box, but didn't want to waste a "good" enclosure, nor have to print a whole box for it. And I have a few Booker's boxes for organizing components and stuff....why not repurpose one for this project, then I would only have to make the lid and a motor stand!

Hatch design and half of the arm borrowed from @pcdangio's useless machine design.

I printed this face-down so that the visible surface would have a consistent texture from the printer plate. But that's just my preference....

Motor mount positioning

This is probably the most annoying part of the build -- trying to align the motor with the switch, since the motor mount needs to be screwed down in the bottom of the box. The way I did it is basically this:

  1. Screw down the motor to the Motor Stand using a bracket.
  2. Attach the Arm to the motor. Make sure the set screw is against the flat part of the D shaft.
  3. Rotate the motor so the arm is upright like where it would be turning off the toggle switch (tapping the wires on the battery leads to get it to rotate is best - don't force it by hand).
  4. Insert the DPDT toggle switch into the Plate Insert. Make sure it's aligned properly (switch operates parallel to the length of the box).
  5. Slot the Upper Lid Half (do not install the Lower Lid Half) into the Booker's box.
  6. Wedge the Hatch-side of the Plate Insert into the Upper Lid Half. It's easiest if you do not install the Hatch at this point.
  7. Get the Arm (which is on the motor which is screwed down to the Motor Stand) in position where it's just touching the switch.
  8. Push down on the top of the motor with your finger to hold it steady, then reach in (through where the Lower Lid Half would be once it's together) and mark the bottom of the box where the motor stand should be (like with a Sharpie or something).
  9. Take the Upper Lid Half and the Plate Insert out.
  10. Position the Motor Mount where you marked and screw it down with a couple #4/M2 sheet metal or wood screws. If you want to pre-drill, that makes it easier.
