Descrição
Number one picked up a plectrum punch recently with the result that guitar picks are now strewn far and wide about our humble residence (I think we hit peak plectrums pretty promptly). In an effort to contain the environmental impact of a tsunami of carelessly discarded picks, I created a plectrum shaped box borrowing from the playing card box I published recently. Again, the design requires just one color-change and relies on capturing the top and bottom lid-inserts rather than using any glue.
Printing Instructions
The inner and outer sleeves of the box are intended to capture the bottom and top lid inserts as the sleeves are being printed, so you will need to ensure that you have printed the two lid inserts first. Make sure you let them cool down before removing them from the build plate in order to reduce the chances of warping.
Start by printing the top insert, and then print the bottom insert, the color change comes towards the end of this print as the bottom logo forms part of this piece. Next print the inner case, when the print pauses insert the bottom lid with the logo facing down. Ensure that the lid sits flush with the top of the inner and resume the print. If the lid insert does sit proud, then try changing the insert orientation to see if you get a better fit. If the logo has any raised strands of filament this may cause the lid to not sit flush so I would suggest inspecting the bottom lid insert carefully. Finally print the outer part of the case. When the print pauses, insert the top lid insert and ensure that the logo is parallel to the x-axis as the loo is supported by the insert.
Other stuff
- The box is designed to be printed with a 0.2mm layer height
- I used Overture PLA Professional for both parts
- For best results make sure that you print everything in the specified orientation
