I designed this hard case box that fits in your pocket.

I have included 3 versions of the lid. A panda, a fox, and a blank lid.

Background

I wanted a hard case to protect a set of earbuds / earphones. I also wanted it to include the following features:

• Fully printed
• Clean look, including an internal hinge
• No hard edges
• Internal self-locking latch for the lid (with a satisfying snap!)

The internal dimensions are approximately: 20 x 60 x 80 mm (0.79 x 2.36 x 3.15 ").

Assembly

I recommend lightly sanding the pins to improve the ease of installation, and smooth the hinge action. The hinge hole is 3.8 mm in the lid, 3.7 mm in the base, with the pin measuring 3.4 mm. These dimensions worked well for me, however please scale the pin diameter to suit.

To assemble, position the lid at about 90° open, and place one pin into the slot. Use a screwdriver or similar to insert the pin until firmly in place. There should be enough friction to retain the pin, without requiring too much force. Repeat for the second pin.

Finishing

Please note that the parts shown in the photos have been sanded. I used 120, 240, 400 then 600 grit on all exterior surfaces. I also used this Fully Printed Sanding Block to help with sanding.
