I've recently started my journey down the 3D printer rabbit hole, and have since acquired more than 4 spools of filament. Because of that I needed dry boxes, and because of that I needed humidity sensors.
Because I wanted them integrated into Home Assistant and not just my eyes, I went on a search for them, and tested out a couple of zigbee and wifi models.
I'm a fan more of the AAA batteries than cell battery (CR2320 or CR2450 and the like) models. I decided in favour of the “tuya” TS0201 chip which identifies as _TZ3000_fllygh (this can still be either AAA or cell battery btw) which came with double-sided sticky pads, pretty much full size of the sensor body.
I planted them with said stickers into the dryboxes and called it good. However, after a week or so one became unresponsive and I needed to get it back out… Lo and behold, that sticker was so good (and bone dry, pros and cons), I could only get the sensor off by ripping apart the sticker… Aliswiftness can never catch a break, complaints, complaints, complaints…
Anyway, since then the sensors have been living on the bottom of the dry boxes which also isn't good!
So, I went looking for holders for them, but for the life of me I couldn't find any!? Only mounts the non-networked ones, or circular sensors ruled supreme?!
I popped my cherry, jumped into TinkerCAD and made my own.
- The sensor body is a snug fit; can be mounted sideways or even upside down I guess?
- No supports needed
- The sensor opening (bottom) is not obstructed
- The LED indicator (front) is not obstructed
- The reset-button is not freely accessible, it's on the inside of the sensor body, next to the batteries
- The accompanying sticker can be cut in half and used elsewhere!
Pretty damn proud of that :)
I think I did my best to keep filament usage to a minimum without becoming flimsy. Use it as a purge object when multicolor printing or print it with leftovers. :)
P.S. Seeing that this my first ever design plus my first upload on this beautiful platform: Comments and criticism are very welcome, but be gentle? ;-)
