General information
At the end of 2024, I set up version 11 of Helmut Weigl's RoeTest. In the process, I created some 3D designs that I am making available to the community in this collection. You can read more information about my build of the RoeTest and the use of the designs published here in my build report at Radio-Bastler.de (German) or on the RoeTest website (German).
About this Design
This design contains a selection of various socket boxes for the RoeTest, that should both fit the standard rails of the RoeTest and this improved design of RoeTest socket rails:
- Noval B9A
- Noval B9A for biquinary Nixies
- Miniatur B7G
- Octal K8A
- Rimlock B8A
- Stahlröhren Y8A
- UX8
Please note that the boxes have been designed to fit the specific tube sockets I have found in my collection or from various suppliers. So they might not fit yours. To deal with different sockets you will either have to change the design (OpenSCAD source code included!) or use RoeTest built from standard KS35/KS50 boxes.
I recommend to print the designs from PETG in variable layer height 0.1…0.3mm.
Required screws:
- 4pcs M3 x 5…8mm flathead screws to mount the base to the boxes
- 2pcs M4 x 16mm flathead screws and 2pcs. M4 nuts to mount the connector to the box
- various M2.5, M3 or M4 screws to mount the tube sockets
Note that screws and other metal parts (from tube sockets!) on the outside of the box must be connected to the ground pin!
Compensating for part shrinkage
For a perfect fit I recommend to compensate for material shrinkage: Print a sample using the same material and settings and measure shrinkage of the printed parts compared to the model. Then in the slicer apply a size scale factor in x- and y- direction. In my designs I usually have to use a factor of around 1.0025…1.0045 to compensate for my PETG material.
Happy printing!
