This is my design to fix the Xgimi Elfin Flip projector above the bed.

It consists of three parts, from top to bottom: 

• an interface between the projector and the square tube;
• an aluminium square tube;
• an interface between the square tube and the bed frame.

The 3D models were designed considering:

• direction of stresses and thus orientation of the part on the printer bed;
• special hole geometries so as to eliminate the need to use supports for these details;
• special hole geometries of the square tube hole to ease the removal of the necessary supports;
• the idea of using the square tube to hide the cables for a clean and elegant look.

Bill of materials

Remember to check the length of any cables you intend to run in the square tube, for example the Elfin Flip's power cable is only 1 metre long, so I chose to cut the tube to 600 mm length.

Print settings

For slicing I used Orca slicer.

• PLA
• 0,4 mm nozzle
• 0,24 mm layer height
• 15 % infill
• Supports YES (tree automatic)
• Use glue stick for better bed adhesion, especially for the Frame anchor A part.

Assembly tips

The interfaces are very tight with the aluminium tube. Be patient, it will assemble. In the end, the whole structure will be robust and of high quality.

Future development

1. The assembly can also be used as a camera tripod. In the future I'm going to design a base which replaces the Frame anchor A and Frame anchor B so that it can be placed anywhere on the floor.
2. Improve the Frame anchor A design to optimise material consumption.
