If you're like me, you've got multiple generations of AirPods Pro. Even if you're not like me, you might have transitioned from your AirPods Pro to another set of earbuds (or away from earbuds entirely!) Wouldn't it be nice to store your old AirPods in an organized drawer, and be able to put stuff on top of them? That's what this is for!
Every AirPods Pro gridfinity bin I have seen so far has not been stackable. They've been designed to hold the case in an easy to grab position, for use on a workbench or similar. While this is the stated goal of Gridfinity, I personally use it a fair bit for its explicit anti-goal: putting things away in drawers in an organized way. So I needed a gridfinity bin that was stackable for my AirPods Pro. Here we are.
The bin measures 2x1x7 units. It can store either an AirPods Pro 1st generation or 2nd generation (or 2nd generation with USB-C) case, as they are identical in dimensions. It is not compatible with regular AirPods, however. There is a small slit at the bottom in the middle of the bin to accommodate the size of the case, the choice was basically between increasing the height another unit or adding a tiny slit, and I went with the latter as it doesn't effect the interface with the baseplate noticeably at all. There is a cutout down to about halfway on the case to accommodate fingers.
Print Settings:
As with all of my gridfinity bins so far, there's nothing special here that requires you to change your approach. However, do keep in mind that there is a fair bit of infill for this bin, and it doesn't need to be particularly strong (depending on what you're stacking on it).
For me:
- Infill: 8% Lightning
- Material: PLA Matte
- .2mm layer height
- No supports
- Defaults are fine.
