Descrição
If you use a wired headphone (with a long wire)
this system allows you to reach further away from your PC.
It stops pulling when you are near and the cable is at it's shortest.
With the correct sized wire (dt770 has about 4mm) it is also really reliable,
very unlikely to jam.
Also the pulling force has a gradient to it which makes it really pleasing to use.
State
I released this as is (V1) because I have an idea for a better one,
but it will take a while before I get to it.
I made this a while ago but seeing a video about a similar solution
inspired me to release this as well.
It works but for example the pivoting pulley does not stay very
well in the table mount.
Warnings
Watch out for cable pinching between the pulleys.
BOM
- 5 bearings (I used TODO)
- Something to wrap around the cable to stop pulling at lowest desired position.
- Screw or two
- M6 Bolt for weight (~25mm long)
Printing
Print 4x bearing-pulley-ring.step
and 2x pulley-support.step
Everything else is just one.
(ignore stl file which is just for 3D viewer)
After printing cut or rip of the custom rim on the curved-cable-mount
Assembly
Press-fit the bearings to the pulleys and press those to the mounts.
It's easiest to put the cable in at this point.
Add the support pieces on top to better hold the pulleys.
Then install the curved-cable-mount about 30cm from the table front edge.
Similarly install the table-pivot-mount near the front edge.
(Use screws / double-sided tape / bluetack)
Lastly push the pivoting pulley in the table mount
Usage
Set the length by wrapping something grippy (like velcro)
and thick enough to not go in between the pulleys.
