This is my first attempt at a full design from scratch. I recently got a 3D printer and fell in love with the Lithophane models. I looked and looked for a frame that would work for me being able to use different light sources. I finally decided that I would give it a try to make my own.
I wanted to gift one of my favorite Artists a Lightbox when I got to do a meet and greet, so being able to travel with this box was a pretty big factor. Thus why I decided to design it in parts that all worked together flawlessly!
This comes with a Base, that has room for any LED puck light you can find that will fit in there. I used a 3 Pack from 5 Below and it lights it up perfectly and very well. I also added a solid pane that has a hole for a light to be put through that is able to have a plug and play incase you always wanted this to be next to an outlet and have a warmer feel!
I allowed just enough tolerance that the supports are a pretty snug fit, but also don't require them to be shoved in tightly. The supports all slide into the corners of the base, then you just add your frames then put the lid on top. The lid should easily go around all of the supports making it all snug and in place!
For the lid, it is flipped upside down and I use a lot of supports. I am still trying to perfect this or find the best way to model it but I am still trying to improve!
For these Lithophanes, I am using 100mm x 100mm Lithophanes and they are 7.5mm thick! I do adjust the base height to 6mm
I use the below site for creating the files and printing them!
