Hi guys, enjoy my knitted turtle model available as deconstructed print on separate plates so that no AMS is needed as well as an AMS version. To reduce printing time and material waste for the AMS version I separated head and eyes from the body. The eyes then can just be glued on. Prepared print profiles are for the lengths 120mm and 80mm.
This is a high-quality decorative 3D model created for visual display and aesthetic appreciation. The design focuses on clean geometry, balanced proportions, and surface quality, resulting in a print that looks refined from all viewing angles.
The model is intended for decorative and artistic use rather than functional or mechanical applications.
Design & Print Readiness
The geometry has been carefully prepared for 3D printing, using solid, manifold construction to ensure reliable slicing and consistent print results. The model is suitable for common additive manufacturing methods and can be printed on a wide range of consumer and professional printers.
Details are designed to print cleanly while maintaining visual clarity, making the model adaptable to different resolutions, materials, and printer capabilities.
Files & Orientation
The provided files include print-ready orientations selected to balance surface quality, support usage, and ease of post-processing.
For best results:
- Use the supplied orientations as provided
- Reorientation is not recommended unless you are familiar with its impact on surface finish and support placement
Supports & Post-Processing
- Supports may be required depending on orientation and printer type
- Use light or tree-style supports where possible to reduce surface marking
- Allow the print to fully cool before removing supports
- Remove supports carefully using flush cutters or precision tools
- Light sanding (grit 200–400) on support contact areas can improve the final appearance
The mouth of the turtle has to be pushed in with a little bit of force but will then stick without any glue:)
Note that while for the AMS version the color separation for body and shell are perfect, the cut for the non-AMS version was difficult to run perfectly through shell- or body-only parts so a little part of the body has the color of the shell and a little part of the shell the color of the body.

I decided to go for “normal” support instead of “tree” for the belly as this is quicker to print and it was also easier to peel off in the end:)
