Descrição
I created this model in FreeCAD (.FCStd file enclosed). This was designed this as a universal tool to quickly create any seal driver needed for automotive (or other) use. It uses FreeCAD variables to set the different diameters and lengths (depths) needed for any application.
Directions
- You can download the FreeCAD application from [https://www.freecad.org/](https://www.freecad.org/) (for free of course).
- Download the “Seal Driver (Universal).FCStd” here on MakerWorld and open in FreeCAD.
- Click on “{} VarSet” (make sure you're on the “Data” tab) and change any of the values there as needed (the model will adjust itself automatically).
- When done, click on “Body” (this is important as it sets the file to be exported)
- Then select “File…Export…” and select “STL Mesh (*.stl *.ast)” and save the STL file on your computer.
- Import into Bambu Studio, adjust parameters (if needed) and print.
Some notes:
- You can't set any of the variables to zero or you'll get an error (but you can set them to 0.1 or some other small value).
- If you need to install a seal with an existing shaft in place, set the “Hole” diameter as needed, and an appropriate “Depth” for the hole. Note that the hole cannot be larger than the size of the shaft(s) – so set those first.
- The edges of the model are beveled with a “Fillet” to avoid tearing an oil seal. You can make this bevel larger or smaller by adjusting the “Fillet_Radius” (again, it can't be zero but again it can be a small value).
- Shaft 1 is normally the inner diameter of the seal (and you can use this to center and hold the seal in place making it easier to work with and drive - see photo)
- Shaft 2 is normally the outer diameter of the seal (you would typically make this slightly smaller than the seal diameter so that it slides easily into the receiving part).
- Shaft 3 is the area that you hammer or press on to drive the seal in. It can also serve as a “depth stop” to prevent driving the seal in too deep and crushing it (if you have an appropriate surface face on your part).
- You may want to adjust the Infill Density % and Infill Pattern if you anticipate needing additional strength for your application.
- If you orient this with the bottom of Shaft 3 on the Build Plate you will not need supports.
