Descrição
This is a modular card display system with magnets and additional corner elements, allowing you to angle the stands as desired.
The problem
Several of the games we play feature card “markets” for open drafting, such as:
- Treasure Market in Return to Dark Tower
- Imperium Row in Dune Imperium
- Bird Tray in Wingspan
- Action Cards Row in The Witcher Old World
- Face-up Trains Row in Ticket to Ride
- … and more
We wanted a set of card stands that could support all these games - and any new ones we might obtain - while also enabling flexible positioning. The goal was to arrange cards along curves and corners of the game space, optimizing visibility and table space.
The solution
The solution is pretty simple: it includes card stands in two lengths (147 mm and 74 mm) and a set of corner connectors (30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°). All components can be connected using 5x2 mm magnets.
- Card capacity: The number and width of cards are limited only by your available table space.
- Slot thickness: Each card slot is 2.6 mm wide, accommodating at least 3 cards in premium sleeves.
- Card height: The supported height depends on the card's weight. For example, 150 mm-high photos or 125 mm-high cards in premium sleeves remain stable.
Printing tips
I used the default preset for printing with 0.4 mm nozzle. However, if your printer struggles with the magnet holes, you may need to enable supports.
For printers without AMS, you can configure your slicer to pause the print after reaching 8.4 mm and manually swap the filament during the pause. This only needs to be done once per print.
Magnets must be glued in place. Be mindful of their polarity - an easy approach is to align all magnets so that the negative poles face one side (e.g., left) and the positive poles face the other side (e.g., right).
