This design started because I just wanted to have a Leg0 shaped tissue box, but then it escalated and ended up being a storage box, pencil holder, flower vase and multiple size variants 😊 All models have the accurate proportions of a real brick, just scaled up 7.75 times, the exact value is due to making sure the 2x4 brick will fit on 255 bed with brim.
Each brick is composed of 3 elements: top, body and bottom. The idea behind it was to make it printable without supports with a nice surface finish plus having the flexibility to either have it open from top or bottom or both.
The pieces can be glued together, connected via 4x2mm magnets or just held loosely.
There’s a bunch of different files included so here’s a quick overview of what each one is:
- Top -> top piece of each brick size
- Suffix ‘Open’ -> with a hole in the stud instead of the closed logo
- Body -> middle portion of each brick size
- Suffix ‘Single’ -> standard size of the brick following the original proportions
- Suffix ‘Double’ -> much taller body that results in twice the height of the brick, 2x single bricks on top of each other = 1 double brick
- Bottom -> bottom piece of each brick size
- Suffix ‘tight fit’ -> this design follow original brick proportions, but results in a very snug fit that requires 2 hand to separate bricks, use this if you wish to make a solid structure
- No suffix -> has extra 0.2mm tolerance that allows it to be easily removed with one hand with barely any resistance (this is the version included in the main print profile)
- Bottom + Body -> two pieces combined into a single model, eliminates the bottom seem and the need for placement keys, but requires supports, separate print profiles included
- Placement Key -> used for aligning Body and Bottom piece, recommend gluing it to the bottom part with a super glue
- x1/x2/x3/x4 variants -> these are applicable to the length of the brick, print profile includes the pairs applicable for each brick type
- Vase -> insert into the brick, to be used with ‘open’ type of Top piece, useful if you want to make it a pen holder or flower pot
- Suffix ‘Double’ -> to be used with the ‘double’ size of the Body piece
- NOTE: the .stl is a solid model, to be printed in vase mode setting (see vase print profile)
- NOTE2: I don’t believe the print will be water-tight without extra processing, please research how to make 3d prints water tight before pouring any liquids into the vase
- Spring -> used to centre a rectangular object within the brick, I used it to make sure the tissue box stays in the middle
- Connector -> to be used instead of the magnets if you wish to glue 2 pieces
If you would like any additional variants please drop a comment.
