Descripción

Use your wall as a clock face!

A simple, yet powerful addition to any household. It will most likely change the way you look at your room! It's a clock and a nice decoration in one.

Clock consists of 15 digits and a mechanism cover. Mounting can be a little tricky, so I added digit stencils (for 10, 11 and 12) as well as kind of a protractor. Those additional objects are thin (2mm), so not much material will be used on them, but those help a lot!
Protractor has also kind of an “ear” on top - it marks a place where mounting hole of cover will have to be, to maintain holes alignement - mark it and attach your wall hanger so the top sits there.
I have used double sided tape for mounting the digits and a plastic hook with three nails (invisible hook) for mechanism cover. For less permanent fixture you can use sticky putty.
Plastic “fake nail” is attached too, so you can use it instead of nails.

For the clock mechanism I have used mechanism extracted from an old clock, arms weren't changed, as original are properly balanced.

If you don't have any clock mechanism, just search for: “high torque clock mechanism” on the popular shopping sites.

I think that shaft with length of 22mm (7/8") is enough.

Quick instructions:

  1. Print the parts - as shown in the picture with two “ones” it's best to print them facing down (already set in printing profile). Stencils for 10, 11 and 12 are not essential in my opinion, but protractor really is!
  2. Find a proper spot - I have utilized about 1m x 1m (3.3ft x 3.3ft) for the clock.
  3. Grab a string - 45cm (17.7in) in my case and tie a nail or a paperclip (if you don't want to put a hole in your wall) to one end of it.
  4. Put the protractor in the previously chosen spot, ALIGN IT (ear on the top, adjust the line beneath it to be vertical, and two perpendicular lines to be as horizontal as it can get ;) ) and put the nail or paperclip in the center.
  5. Now, you probably will need an extra hand. Guide the string throughout a set of pins, tighten it and mark a place for the digit on the wall.
  6. Secure digit on the wall.
  7. Repeat step 5. and 6. for each digit.
  8. When done, before removing the protractor mark the “ear”, so you will know where to mount the hook.
  9. Using stencils for digits can be a little tricky - I recommend trying it without glue first.
  10. Assemble clock mechanism and a cover - unscrew nuts on the thread of the mechanism, put it through the hole in cover, put the washer (if you dont have it, just skip) on the thread and secure it with the nut. If it's too lose (it spins when setting the time), use double sided tape to attach mechanism to a cover on the inside. Attach the arms (may vary).
  11. Position the cover with the hole upside (align with marked spot) and make sure if everything looks good.
  12. Mount a nail in the marked spot, set the time and hang the clock.

    That's it!

If it sounds complicated, it's only because I wanted to describe everything, so you won't repeat my errors. Whole mounting is really easy and takes only 15-20 minutes.

I hope you will have fun printing, assembling and looking at it!
