Here in the Galactic British Empire manual labour is not something that happens to the ruling classes, to ease the burden, for those that can afford it, the RoboTommy robotic assistant was created by Pickle Heavy Industries. This versatile machine can be easily adapted to carry out any number of menial or dangerous tasks, especially when used as a platform augmentation tool. The Galactic British Navy have become the biggest customer for RoboTommy and have funded, and lead, developments in the military units.

Following a mass recall of the first production units due to risk of catastrophic fire, the second version included a number of additional safety features which vastly reduced the number of lawsuits files against PHI. The recall of the second version production units following some high profile incidents of Robotocide lead to new software protocols and operating system encryption being introduced as a mandatory retrofit. The MkIV included a great many enhancements aimed at prolonging the unit’s useful life when operating off-planet and received mass deployments across the Empire. The Mark V is the latest incarnation of this useful minion and features such ground breaking features as being able to look in a different direction to that which it is moving.

The type/class of a RoboTommy is usually identified by its colour although the AI units are physically different in some ways also.

The following are the currently known configurations but I'm sure you might find different ones:
-Red = Enhanced AI, these RoboTommy have advanced cognitive features and are generally used to help control a number of other RoboTommy devices. Whilst all RoboTommy can operate independently, they are known to be much more effiicent when co-ordinated by an AI. Happily the enhanced AI allows Reds to understand the "post box" jokes made at their expense
-Silver = Standard general purpose RoboTommy, can interface to a number of general labour saving devices
-Dark Blue = Engineering RoboTommy have an additional FPU, allowing them to calculate to a higher degree of accuracy which helps them preform complex engineering tasks
-Black = Assault RoboTommy has increased protection from a military grade composite outer shell and also has a secondary military strategy processor which result in its capability of interfacing with an array of defensive and offensive weaponry
