Update 1/10/26: I am in the process of making a Mk2 version of this target. I am in the testing phase now and will publish a new model soon. The new model will have new features like being designed for TPU (TPU for AMS or similar hardness) for extreme durability and will now have a small magnetic base that allows the user to not only provide an easier way for the bottle to be held together, but also allows the user to mount the target upside down on a magnetic surface or any magnetic horizontal surface for stability.
So far I'm able to throw this target at a wall and nothing breaks so even high fps or even other things like baseballs or other hard projectiles shouldn't break it, as well as any fall it might take from being knocked down. Stay tuned and thank you to eberyone who liked and boosted this model, it seems to be a favorite :)
Update 10/06/25: I have reuploaded the magnet version, there is now a pause to allow the user to add magnets and resume.
Update 06-02-25: I have added a beta model for the bottle with bottom AND top magnets. top magnets are 6x2mm while the bottom magnets are 6x3mm. I tried making the top magnets embedded, but the magnets would not stay put while trying to print over them and the part becomes a bit flimsy and the user could accidentally bump the part. The cap should slide right in and glued to the main bottle bodies.
So, overall the bottom magnets are embedded, and the print needs to be paused just before the bottom hole is printed over. The top magnets are inserted AFTER the part is done printing, and once added are closed in with the printed cap and glued.
Update 12-17-24: I have added a Magnet version in the print profile list. It requires 8, 6x3mm magnets if you want a magnetized base, technically it doesn't need magnets to stand up on its own, but does make assembly quicker. This version is also thicker and should take more punishment. I still recommend printing in PETG or ABS but PLA will work but probably not as long.
Update 11-26-24: The current files will most likely be just fine for normal/unmodified blasters and some lightly modified blasters. A Caliburn or similar will probably shred the plastic in its current PLA Form. I am uploading a new version soon with thicker walls meant for PETG/ABS to stand up to the harder hitting blasters. I am currently testing. Thanks!
*Note: Updates may occur in the future, as well as multiple versions of the bottle.
After being inspired by the old shooting game Quick N' Crash a recent run in at an arcade, I decided to make some reactive “exploding” targets for gel or nerf blasters! A simple, 4 piece bottle can be blasted and assembled over and over again! I have printed and tested this with PLA with an Aeon Pro (~150 FPS) and it has held up very well. I would recommend using a material that is a bit more equipped to handle to constant impact, but it can be done in PLA, but you will need to use the 3mm version - Both 2mm and 3mm are included in the print profile.
More exploding targets are on the way so be on the lookout for those. As always, if anyone has feedback or requests for this model i am all ears
- Requires no additional hardware. Recommended to use on a flat stable surface. Bottle parts should be able to sustain falls onto soft surfaces from at least 3 ft, probably more but i have not tested from surfaces any higher.
- Makes a great gift for anyone with kids (or themselves) who like to have cool new targets to shoot at. Also a great Christmas gift for any nerf fan :)
