This mode is intented as a light diffuser for the Milwaukee tool brand lantern M18 LL.
I found this lantern to have a sharp light making it hard to look at. This light diffuser solves the problem by spreading the light with minimal loss of performance.
Lightweight: Only 16g of filament
As shown: printed on A1 mini, 0.4 nozzle, white sunlu meta filament
Functionality:
- Very snug fit. Does not rattle. Ever so slightly looser in the bottom to allow for ease of installation and tolerance.
- Does not interfere with other functionality of the lantern (light swivel).
- Spreads the light - especially pleasant on the two lowest light settings.
- Surprisingly sturdy. Mine does not break even when dropped or pinched.
Printing notes:
- Use Spiral Vase in printing setting (under other).
- I had great results using 0.4 nozzle. I imagine 0.6 would be fine too.
- I used a generic white filament, which did not noticeably change the color tone. You may get a warmer tone using beige filament, or even completely change the color with red, blue, yellow or green. The filament does not have to be translucent since the model is very thin, but your results may vary.
Installation guide (very simple):
- Unscrew 4 torx screws from the black plastic top cover (you can avoid complete dissasembly by leaving them in slightly
- Remove said black top cover
- Be mindful of the rubber O-ring. Place it back into the black top cover if it got loose. I recommend using a small spoon for this since it is hard to reach with your fingers.
- Insert the light diffuser over the lamp
- Reinstall the black top cover (remember the rubber O-ring!)
- You did it! High-five yourself or someone nearby :D
