Boeing 737 Throttle Quadrant DIY
This project is a fully functional, 3D-printed throttle quadrant inspired by the Boeing 737, designed to bring immersive flight control to your simulator setup. Powered by the Bluepill STM32 board with the FreeJoy library, this quadrant delivers precision control over essential flight functions:
- Dual-axis throttle control with reverse thrust detents
- Flap lever for settings from 0 to 40 degrees
- Landing gear lever with up, down, and off positions
- Speed brakes with positions for up, down, flight detent, and variable axis control
Assembly Requirements
- Hardware:
- 3x 130mm M3 threaded rods with nuts
- 5x potentiometers (linear, any resistance)
- 5x rubber bands for spring tension
Assembly Guide
- Install Potentiometers: Attach each potentiometer to its respective lever and separator for accurate control.
- Tension Control: Rubber bands connect lever bases to each custom lever, adding realistic spring action.
- Final Assembly: Clamp it all together and secure the unit to your desk for stable operation.
Software
The FreeJoy library on the STM32 board allows for USB joystick compatibility on Windows/MacOS/Linux, making it appear as a native game controller. Connect each potentiometer to an analog input, customize settings in FreeJoy’s software, and you’re ready to fly!
