This OpenSCAD model generates a customizable adapter for 3D printer filament spools, designed to allow you to adapt spools with larger inner hole diameters to fit smaller filament holders.

 

This can be useful for example if you want to use some Filament Spools with the AMS Lite.

 

Parameters:

 

  • spool_hole_diameter: Defines the diameter of the spool’s center hole. To ensure a snug fit, measure your spool’s inner hole and subtract a small tolerance.

     

  • adapt_to: Specifies the target diameter of the filament holder, adapting the spool hole to fit snugly around this size.

     

  • with_flange: Option to include an external flange on the adapter (true or false).
    • flange_thickness: Sets the thickness of the flange.
    • flange_size: Defines the radial size of the flange extending beyond the spool hole.

       

  • insert_depth: Sets how deep the adapter will extend into the spool.

     

  • insert_cone: Enables a conical taper on the adapter’s insert. This provides an easier insertion. Increase for more conical shape. 0 for none.

     

  • insert_slit: Allows for a slit in the adapter (enabled only if with_flange is true). This adds flexibility, making it easier to adjust for tight fits or slight tolerances.
    • insert_slit_thickness: Adjusts the thickness of the slit if insert_slit is true.
