Modelo 3D Dog Button Holder (Amplified & Customizable) por ryan.d.williams no MakerWorld

Descrição

Dog Button Holder (Amplified & Customizable)

I have sampled a variety of other 3D printed dog button holders online, and have noticed that they all significantly decrease the volume of the button versus the button sitting directly on the floor. This makes it difficult to hear the button when in another room or upstairs.

I designed this button to fix that problem - it utilizes two design choices to amplify the sound:

  1. An air gap is created between the bottom of the button and the base of the holder.
  2. A 45 degree cone is placed under the button speaker. The inner edge of the holder is also a 45 degree angle ramp. This means the sound has a minimum number of bounces to escape the holder.

Testing showed this design was significantly louder than existing designs, and it was even louder than the button sitting alone on the ground.

This holder was specifically designed for these buttons, but I have included a customize option to change the design for a different button.

How to Customize for a Different Button

If you want to use this holder for a different button, you can press the “Customize” button above.

There are 5 parameters you can change:

  1. Hex Radius: This is the distance from the center of the holder to the corner of the hexagon.
  2. Button Diameter: This is the diameter of your button. Note that depending on how accurately you measure, you may need a little bit of tolerance to allow the button to fit.
  3. Cone Radius: This should be set to the radius of your speaker on the bottom of the button.
  4. Cone Offset X/Y: To maximize the sound amplification, the cone should be directly under the speaker. You can use these offset parameters to move the cone to the appropriate place so that it is directly under the speaker.

Print Settings

I printed with the standard 0.2mm layer height settings (with a change from grid to gyroid for the infill pattern). I imagine most settings would work fine for this print. You can drop down the infill percentage if you are looking to use less filament or print faster. No supports required.

Why is the cone cutoff?

I experimented both with making the cone the same diameter of the speaker and making the cone come to a point (see below image):

I found that the cone that was the same radius as the button with the top cut off (the right example in the image above) was slightly louder than the alternative (~0.1-0.6db).
