Context

When time came for me to use a Raspberry Pi I was looking for a combo with a fan hat to increase thermal dissipation (because of high demand on the Raspberry CPU). I was not impressed by basic models found on some famous marketplaces and I finally discovered the VentilaPI 4 Fan hat who checked all the boxes : Low noise, high thermal dissipation, good build quality.

From there, all I had to do was to design a casing without ruining the heat dissipation of the VentilaPI

This casing is designed to welcome a standard Raspberry Pi 4 board, plus a Ventilapi 4 hat on the top.

Also, a Raspberry Pi 4 board without the ventilaPI 4 hat will fit well inside.

Design is wide open to let the air circulate.

All Raspberry Pi 4 connectors are accessibles and there is also a dedicated output for a Camera flex PCB.

Print

For printing, I used the 0,2mm layer standard printing profile with arborescent supports enabled.

PLA is a perfect filament choice for this design because there is no particular mechanical or thermal stress. PETG and others technical filment should works fine also even if not tested.

Parts list

1x Raspberri PI 4 board

1x VentilaPI 4 Fan Hat (optional)

4x M2.5 nuts

4x M2.5 10mm hex spacers

4x M2.5 12mm hex spacers (no need for assembly without VentilaPI hat)

4x M2.5 6mm screws (no need for assembly without VentilaPI hat)

4x M2.5 20mm screws (only for assembly without VentilaPI hat)

Any Raspberry PI 4 should work (I have a 4 Go version)

VentilaPI 4 Fan hat can be find there

For screws, nuts and spacer, size required is M2.5. I have used nylon parts but metal parts should work fine also.

Assembly instruction

See 3D view of the assembly for help.

1. Assemble lower case with the Raspberry 4 board with 4x M2.5 nuts and 4x 10mm M2.5 hex spacers
2. Place the VentilaPI 4 heat on the top of Raspberry PI 4 board
3. screw 4x 12mm M2.5 spacers above VentilaPI
4. Add upper case. Lower and Upper case should joint gently
5. screw 4x M2.5 flat head screws on the upper case to assemble together lower and upper case
